All to Order (WNUR)
05:00
|
|||
Would you know paradise
If it stood before your eyes
Would you dress it like a whore
Charge admission at the door
Would you abuse it
Cheat and use it
Would it be your will
Turn a blind eye
To the dove's cry
Out on your window sill
All to order
Divide and conquer
All to order
The dance of light
is synchronized
Behind the static on your screen
It's putting words in your mouth
And a reason to believe
The neon glow
Of the all night show
Keeps us coming back for more
The cleaning man
WIth broom in hand
Sweeps the love from the floor
Beneath the barbed wire
Between the crossfire
We arrive without fail
And in the clearing
Among the screaming
We find the serpent eats it's tail
All to order
Divide and conquer
All to order

Train of Thought (WNUR)
03:48
|
|||
My train of thought has derailed from the track I came in on and left me in a place where I have no recollection
Still the sound of steel forever penetrates my mind
and the signs all read as if writ in a foreign land which I can't understand
Pay your respects to the doorman for the empires are falling like leaves and soon we'll be lost among the debris
As I lie supine my dreams meander slow through cracks in walls from one room to the other I ride these winds back down
And I wake to find myself at a table, a host for a banquet of fools as they spill their wine, a toast for the conquest to rule
Pay your respects to the doorman for the empires are falling like leaves and soon we'll be lost among the debris

The Wedding Party (WNUR)
03:35
|
|||
Two big hands crush the sky
A clap of thunder makes the crowd cry
A paper hat of headlines sits
On your head a perfect fit
Please be still for the photograph
Have a drink throw it back
Take this vow before it breaks
Fall in love celebrate
Will you trust me like I trust you
Will you love me like I love you
Twice a day a bitter pill
Keeps the hunter from his kill
Dropping pennies down the drain
Finding pleasure in the pain
Sharing sickness sharing wealth
Let's make a toast to our health
Fiction finds a way to twist
Every truth in every kiss
Will you trust me like I trust you
Will you love me like I love you
Twin explosions rock the bed
Hit the nail on the head
Synchronized beating hearts
From this world to depart
Side by side headstones lay
A love embrace beneath the clay
I'll take it on if you insist
I'll take it all despite the risk
Will you trust me like I trust you
Will you love me like I love you

Hello Oblivion (WNUR)
04:03
|
|||
Once you give up the ghost the leech will drop from the host and die and in a flood of relief you will soak your feet and sigh
But will you look back and laugh when you study the path that you walked when you were searching for fame as a subject to pain and loss
Or will you cry hello oblivion
Into you I am slipping, day to day and end to end
Do you feel yourself living?
Another dance with death another stolen breath of air
Trapped beneath their nets with your feet set in the snare
They got you up on trial with that crooked smile on your face and now you're playing dumb like you don't know what to say
And you cry hello oblivion
Into you I am slipping, day to day and end to end
Do you feel yourself living, do you now?

I don't know what to tell you baby
You're going to have to go it alone
This gamble's bound to drive you crazy
But it sure beats staying home
And when you're out there beneath the weather
I'm sure someone will give you shelter
And when he offers you a private look into
The world that he's constructed for you to explore
Will you tie your heart to the floor?
It's easy to get down about it
When days just blur and nights are long
But since it's just one big experiment
There's really no way to go wrong
The future is a fantasy that you alone claim to see
The story's still unfinished, it's history's still unwritten
And we are both still standing tall
With the axe yet to fall
Between the first and last call
I don't know what, I don't know what, I don't know what to tell you baby

Hey Mr. Death Wish I can see by your face that something died inside of you. Your spirits all but crushed and there ain't a soul that you can trust and everything you love has turned to dust
You set ablaze everyone who turned an ugly hand upon your plate and some demon masquerades behind the mask upon your face and no one here dares speak your name
Go call to heaven for your thunder now
Burn the whole place down, burn the whole place down
Fix a grave for every broken heart
Throw the pieces down, throw the pieces down
Hey Self Destruction Man listen here don't you pull your guns on me. You put holes in everything and holes in me
You leave nothing standing but your own misery
This place you came to well it isn't much. I don't look on it with pride. But seeing I have time and am very much alive. I don't feel the need to die
Go call to heaven for your thunder now
Burn the whole place down, burn the whole place down
Fix a grave for every broken heart
Throw the pieces down, throw the pieces down

Easy Route (WNUR)
04:20
|
|||
The moon is down spirits they lie around
there's nothing left to tap aside from the dregs in each glass
We lifted the roof reeking of cheap perfume
And burned through the night as if it would be our last
And by the time we retired we squandered our entire fortune
Yeah we flew through the fire and came out entirely numb
Back to square one with the widows and orphaned ones
Rehearsing our steps like a chess player who plans his next move
Riding through town going the easy route
Turning the wheels on a bicycle built for two
With no need to worry about what's bound to bury us both. Yeah we'll know when we're off course by the lights on the seaboard coast
O When you talk in your sleep you describe the most beautiful things, where the sun meets the sea, Eternity, Eternity
On the island of dreams we sort through the shattered things
Collecting ingredients for a new recipe
While we stand in the stream we'll talk of mortality
And watch our reflections as they waltz cross the sea
With no need to worry about what's bound to bury us both. Yeah we'll know when we're off course by the lights on the seaboard coast
O When you talk in your sleep you describe the most beautiful things, where the sun meets the sea, Eternity, Eternity

Eye for an Eye (WNUR)
03:40
|
|||
Once it did appear you finally met your match
But with every lucky number there seems to be a catch
You cast your lot in life on a table that always turns
And now you're at the doctor getting treated for your burns
You might think I want an eye for an eye
But that's why you and I never saw eye to eye
A servant to your whims I was faithful as they come
But all that running around just left me feeling numb
You finally hit pay dirt on a bargain you couldn't refuse
But your triumphant eyes are cemented down with glue
You might think I want an eye for an eye
But that's why you and I never saw eye to eye
The gambler I've become is living by the roulette wheel
Clothes-lining the past with another shady deal
Descending to the maelstrom drowning in his drink
A lady on each arm ready to break his bank
You might think I want an eye for an eye
But that's why you and I never saw eye to eye
On a high horse you reside pausing to glance below
LIke a gargoyle on his tower watching the river flow
And down on the banks I'm fishing for a meal
Choking on the dust left from your clicking heels
You might think I want an eye for an eye
And that's why you and I never saw eye to eye

Day for Night (WNUR)
04:03
|
|||
When the moon dissolves into the sky like the shine in your dilated eye, miles from me sobriety stands with a hammer in his hand. And we roll down the street like a pair of coins that fell from the place where your jeans are torn and you smile at me with your wine stained teeth
And say let's take the train
To a quiet place I know where we can be alone
Where the shore meets the sea meets the sun
And although we should be tired the day has just begun
Well the train doors close and we collapse as my head sinks down onto your lap and we're talking about nothing just to keep from falling asleep, and the ringing in my mind is amplified by the music of the night and that stuff we tried but retreating is the feeling like the tide that's no longer high
Just three stops to go until we're out on the road
Where the shore meets the sea meets the sun
And although we're winding down it's clear the day is young
So we stare at the sun and talk about how long it will be until it burns out, when it's fire retires will we be around to see? For all we know it could be that day and if it is I hope it's final ray kisses your eyelids before we are shown to the door
Lay your head down in my hand among the diamond in the sand. Where the shore meets the sea meets the sun
And as we drift into dream the day carries on

War Love (WNUR)
04:00
|
|||
Before we start to fall apart
Before we leave for unknown parts I will
Make good and settle the bill
You pulled me out of the tiger's mouth
You cleaned me up and turned me round to face
The burdens that I could not face
The Gods above are making love
Throwing thunder and causing floods to wreck
The towers that we erect
Language tries to pacify
Even when are tongues are tied we go
On talking of what we know
Talking while exchanging blows
War love, war love is that all it really was
A war love, a war love
Between the breath of seconds stretched
Beneath the sky's big blue dress you stand
Frozen as the night watchman's hands
Guarding what alone you trust
Upon the shelf beneath the dust that lines
The pasture of your mind
The pasture where your secrets reside
War love, war love is that all it really was
A war love, a war love
Lovers lie with legs intwined
Letting off the heat inside their guns
Unloading into the sun
Fevers flare over bodies bare
Coughing in the cup they share in hope
To keep their love afloat
To keep it from going broke
War love, war love is that all it really was
A war love, a war love
